The satin, deep shine of copper wonderfully refracts and reflects light on the edges of the models, thanks to which the boundaries of individual layers become almost invisible to the naked eye immediately after printing. Properties and advantages of the Smart Print Silk PLA Copper filament:

• Denchanting, metallic shine of silk (Silk Effect): Special refining additives give the outer walls a high, satin shine, which, combined with the copper shade, creates the effect of exclusive, polished metal.
• Exceptional ease of printing: Despite advanced optical modifications, the material retains all the greatest advantages of classic PLA. It is characterized by negligible thermal shrinkage, no unpleasant odor and excellent adhesion to the substrate (no edge curling / warping).
• Perfect layer masking: The unique polymer structure reflects and refracts light in such a way that the nozzle micro-transition lines become virtually invisible, giving the models a perfectly smooth, factory appearance (end-use appearance).
• High consistency and flexibility: Silk modification noticeably improves the plastic's ductility and inter-layer cohesion, making the finished prints more resistant to cracking and less brittle than in the case of standard, unmodified PLA.

Recommendations and suggested print settings:

Silk PLA materials are extremely easy to process, but the intensity of the final metallic gloss depends directly on the thermal parameters and printing speed. The following data are recommended guidelines:

• Head temperature (hotend): 200°C - 230°C (Tip: A higher temperature in this range usually allows you to obtain a maximum, almost mirror-like shine from the material, while a lower temperature gives a more matte-satin finish)

• Table temperature (bed): 40°C – 60°C

• Print cooling: 80-100% (Intensive fan airflow helps maintain impeccable geometry of details, sharp edges and smoothness of overhangs and bridges)

• Retraction and mechanics: Due to the increased fluidity of the molten Silk polymer, it is recommended to precisely adjust the length and speed of retraction to avoid fine stringing. The material does not contain particles of real metal and does not have abrasive properties - standard brass nozzles with a diameter of at least 0.4 mm can be used without any problems.
